Dear colleagues!
Dear EOQ
Colleagues, Dear Friends,
Answers to the
crisis - thoughts on ways out of the crisis The financial
crisis is not alone to be blamed for the world-wide economic
critical situation. Different studies of appreciative
international economic research institutes and the headlines
of the media of the last time report that:
Turnover
losses in the countries of Europe by quality problems amount
up to 20 billion euros per country. On the
average of companies, 10 to 20% of the turnovers are lost
through quality problems
The productivity continues
to sink. The productivity went back to the level of 1998.
Potentials are not enough identified and
systematically used.
General Motors had already
before the financial crisis significant recessions in sales by
strategic erroneous trends and wrong products. These will be
intensified now by the financial crisis.
In China,
many enterprises had to close or were closed by the local
authorities. In addition, numerous closings are the result of
problems with the products quality (toy articles, food, in
particular the Melamine scandal). That means the financial
crisis is not to be blamed for all closings. According to
the Chinese press agency Xinhua (October 20, 2008) in the year
2008 went into bankruptcy more than 50% of the 3600 toy
manufacturers.
Lack of planning and lack of
management, lack of communication, missing work ethics,
IT-problems and low level qualification of the employees are
likewise causes of the crisis.
Step by step to
guaranteed success, to the way out of the crisis: However,
too little attention is given to the possible ways out of the
crisis, coming out from the mentioned studies. Among other
things, were pointed out the following possibilities:
Companies having quality management systems are more
successful, as can be proved
Quality increases the
immune system of the companies.
Integrated
management systems offer the chance to develop strategies, to
improve processes by measurable means, to plan the resources
employment more effective and more efficient
Education and training are the basis for the successful
conversion of management models such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or
Business Excellence.
Audits and certifications
guarantee the continuous improvement of the company
performance.
Further recommendations regarding the way
out of the crisis: Consistent planning, increase the
quality of the management, consistent adjustment of the
processes towards the customer, purposeful qualification of
the employees regarding quality, environmental and safety
management, definition of goal-oriented actions and effective
conversion of these actions.
But the crisis is also a
chance for improvement. Lets use this chance!
